The Plowshare Farms CSA

Now Offering Half Shares

We are excited to offer half-share CSAs.  To ensure adequate variety, our half-share CSA will consist of a full share picked up every other week.  Our weekly CSA boxes often last members into their second week, and our produce is picked so fresh that it will keep for two weeks or more.  Half Shares cost $360/season picked up on farm, or $420/season picked up in Philly.  Pastured eggs can be for $5.5/week.

The Plowshare Farms CSA offers members a connection to the farm and farmers that produce the food they eat.  In each weekly share, you’ll not only find the freshest seasonal produce, but also a deeper understanding of the rhythms of the growing season, and the bounty our region has to offer.

With over 100 varieties of vegetables, fruits, herbs, and dried goods to offer, the Plowshare Farms CSA provides an ever-changing assortment of flavors, from heirloom oddities to well-known favorites. While most produce found in the supermarket has been bred to travel well, we have spent the last five seasons selecting varieties based on flavor.  Our practice of remineralizing the soil, using natural fertilizers, and rejecting chemical pesticides ensures that the food we produce is as healthful and nutritious as it is flavorful.

We grow everything that goes into our CSA shares on our farm in Pipersville, PA, 54 miles from Philadelphia.

What is a CSA

A CSA (community supported agriculture) is a program that gives members direct access to fresh sustainably-grown food produced in their community.  Members sign up for a season’s worth of fresh produce, and receive weekly boxes made up of all the freshest veggies growing on the farm that week.

This model not only gives members a chance to enjoy naturally-grown peak-season produce, it also allows farmers to more accurately plan their crop system and make early investments in seeds, natural fertilizers, and farm infrastructure.

Pick Up

You can pick up our CSA on Wednesdays at Good Spoon Soupery in Kensington; on Saturdays at the Rittenhouse Square Farmers’ Market and Primal Supply Butcher Shop on East Passyunk; or Fridays at Plowshare in Pipersville, Bucks County.

Our CSA season runs 24 weeks, from June 5th through November 13th.  At $35/week, the total cost of a share is $840, which can be paid in full at the start of the season, or in three installments of $280.  If paying in installments, the first is due upon signing up, the second on April 15, and the third on May 1st.  In addition to vegetables, members can add on an egg share for $5.5/week.  With additional egg share, total cost is $972, or three payments of $324.

On farm pick-up is $30/week.

To sign up, send a check payable to Plowshare Farms to 2967 Bedminster Road, Perkasie, PA 18944, or follow the link below to our PayPal page.  Please include your name, phone number, pick-up location, and if you would like to add eggs to your share.  The PayPal link will take you to a page that says “Donation,” but that is just so that you can adjust the amount based on your payment plan and egg preference.  Your payment is not a donation, but an investment in a season’s worth of fresh, nutritious produce.
